True compassion is not merely an emotional response, it is a firm commitment based on reason. This firm and real compassionate attitude towards the others does not change, even though they act negatively. True compassion is not based on our projections and expectations, but on the needs of the other. The goal is to develop this true compassion, this true desire for the other’s wellbeing; actually, for the wellbeing of all living beings in the universe
His Holiness the Dalai Lama
Today more than ever, our planet is need of leaders in each family, each community, each company and government, who would dedicate themselves to the creation of a more inclusive, peaceful, innovative and responsible world. Not only at an individual level, but also on a social and environmental level. We feel that this commitment must result in concrete action that greatly impact people’s lives, their relationships and the context in which they live, so to achieve real transformations that are sustainable in time.
A culture of peace is not just about political or economic decision-making: it is, above all, a change in the individual’s view that moves from self-service toward the inclusion of the other as a being that is also in search for happiness, understanding that the latter is unattainable for the isolated being. As long as our decision-making takes into account the wellbeing of the most living beings possible, the change that humanity needs will start to happen.
This is the viewpoint adopted at the Institute for Peace, which focuses in training young people and adults beyond the reach of school education
Bodhisattva Training
“In order that the power of Peace may touch every person on this earth, it needs to irradiate from the deep peace of our own mind: crossing the boundaries of religion and politics along with the boundaries of our own ego.” Chagdud Rinpoche.
Our work methodology is inclusive and it is inspired by Buddhist teachings promoting peace, compassion and equanimity. More than incorporating concepts, it is about developing a compassionate practice and about transforming our habits. The Bodhisattva Training for Peace and Altruistic Action is based both on Buddhist master Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche’s method, and on the 31-years-long experience of Fundación Origen working with young people, women in contexts of vulnerability, and diverse communities.
Practice for Peace and Altruistic Action
The workshops based on the “Bodhisattva Training: Practice for Peace and Altruistic Action” are aimed at providing concrete tools for personal transformation towards a peace-based cohabitation. Through this training we intend to help people cultivate in themselves those qualities that set the foundations for enduring happiness, while addressing negative emotions and habits that perpetuate suffering. The change of view that the workshop facilitates promotes dialogue and peaceful relationships, offering a method for conflict prevention and resolution, and developing a state of inner peace even in complex contexts and situations.
Mary Anne Müller has been authorised to teach this method after a long training, involving both conceptual learning and the personal practice of meditation.
